The Fire Suppression Division, headed up by Deputy Chief William "Mike" Puterbaugh Jr., is the fire suppression arm of the Greenwich Fire Department. This division is responsible for providing a whole range of services such as, but not limited to, the following: Fire Suppression & Emergency Rescue through: Emergency Fire Fighting Response Emergency Rescue Operations Vehicle Extrication First Aid & Medical Response Continual Training in latest Fire & Rescue Techniques Specialized Confined Space Rescue Team Specialized Trench Rescue Team Specialized Water Rescue Team Public Fire Education Hazardous Materials Incident Response Team Fire Incident Data Collection Fire Pre Planning

The suppression division is made up of both career and volunteer fire fighting forces. They are assigned to a total of 8 fire stations located throughout the Town of Greenwich (seven in-town & one just over the state line in adjacent Banksville, NY). There are currently 100 career fire fighters, assigned to four shifts, and approximately 100 "entry tag certified" volunteer fire fighters.
