Fire Department Training Division |
The Greenwich Fire Department Training Division, under the direction of Captain John Sabito, has worked on getting back to basics. The training division has developed plans that instruct the entry level firefighter in fundamentals, broaden their vision in fire tactics, and elevate their educational potential to be able to develop strategies as an incident commander.
In providing support for the primary mission of the Fire Department, the Training Division has contracted other technical agencies, including the State of Connecticut, to deliver specialized training in various areas. The Fire Department has also moved forward in training its own membership to be able to do more of its own in-house training. This was done in order to help the Department maintain and meet all the regulatory requirements and future technical needs for the fire service. During the combined in-service training drills, both career and volunteer instructors have been utilized, and we have worked at hands-on training in the areas of engine operations, ladder operations, and rescue functions. Additional annual refreshers for Emergency Medical Technician, C.P.R., and Hazardous Materials are also given.
